Brian Hayes TD was elected to the 30th Dáil on May 24, 2007.

He was Fine Gael Spokesperson on Education and Science, September, 2007-July, 2010.

Brian was appointed interim spokesperson on Health and Children, June, 07.

He was elected to Seanad Éireann (Cultural and Educational Panel) in July 2002. He was Front Bench Spokesperson on Dublin and Party Leader in the Upper House, where he was also Spokesperson on Defence and Northern Ireland

Brian was Fine Gael's Front Bench Spokesperson on Social and Community Affairs from 15th February 2001 to May 2002.He was Fine Gael's Front Bench Spokesperson on Northern Ireland from June 2000 to February 2001.

Formerly secondary school teacher & Fine Gael National Youth & Education Officer. Brian was first elected to Dáil Éireann in the 1997 General Election for the constituency of Dublin South West. From 1995 to 1997 Brian was a member of Seanad Éireann, first nominated by the then Taoiseach, John Bruton, and was later appointed Government Spokesperson on the Environment.

Member of South Dublin County Council, 1995-2003.

Following a reshuffle of the Fine Gael Front Bench in June 2000, Brian was promoted as Front Bench Spokesperson on Northern Ireland. He has previously worked as secretary to the Fine Gael Group at the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation and had been involved in preparing party submissions to that body. From 1997 to 2000 Brian was Spokesperson on Housing, House Prices and Urban Renewal.
